Business relocation website launches
05 July 2010
Cherwell, a mainly rural area in north Oxfordshire has a number of towns and sites situated near the M40. The Cherwell M40 Investment Partnership (CHIP) was created by Cherwell District Council to help expanding and relocating businesses source high-quality industrial and commercial premises.
In late 2009, Oculus won a tender to create a new website for CHIP, including a refresh of the overall identity, content and functionality. CHIP wanted a contemporary-looking website, which could also be accessed securely by property agents, allowing them to post property details.
Once the visual designs had been approved the development was rapid, with the content management system (CMS) used being Kentico, for which Oculus is both a Gold Partner and Certified Training Partner.
Some other key deliverables of the website project were:
- A property search function incorporating Google Maps, providing summary information and enabling users to register for full property details
- A user account capability, allowing users to manage their details and set preferences
- A tailored management console, allowing CHIP to manage users, agents and properties, and to export out data
- A media library, enabling property images to be uploaded to the website
As well as organising all the hosting and technical elements, Oculus set up additional SSL security for the website.
The CMS website, www.cherwell-m40.co.uk, was successfully launched in June 2010. It has now been promoted to local property agents, who are now actively adding property content to the website.
