Keeping the biopharmaceutical sector informed

London Biotechnology Network (LBN) is a network of over 2,000 members in 800 different organisations from the biopharmaceutical sector, academia, venture capital community, legal and accounting services and consultants. It provides members with information and networking opportunities to cultivate the right environment for innovation and collaboration in the life sciences community.
Following a recommendation, LBN approached Oculus to build them an exciting, fresh, interactive website. After analysing LBN’s needs, we proposed a comprehensive website based on solid information architecture and site-mapping.
The resulting website houses the ‘London BioGuide Directory’, the first point of contact for all enquiries relating to the biopharmaceutical sector. This key section holds information on what each company in the biopharmaceutical sector is working on and where they are in the process of bringing a new drug to market.
The website needs frequently updating due to the real-time nature of the content, so we customised the Kentico .NET content management system to allow LBN to easily and quickly enter new information.
We also delivered a successful custom-built tool that displays company and drug candidate data. This tool generates ’on demand‘ graphs and pie charts that give an overview of each sector to the user.
We also implemented Google Analytics for easy reference and to enable LBN to gain insight into how the website is used and to update information accordingly.
The new website has been well received with new registrations and website activity and since the launch it has been accessed globally.
