AQA is the leading provider of GCSEs and A-levels for secondary schools and colleges in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Computer science is a new subject in schools and a recent addition to the AQA exams portfolio.
Against intense competition in the exams marketplace, AQA asked Oculus to help design an integrated campaign for a computer science competition that would raise awareness and teaching of AQA’s qualifications in schools in an innovative and creative way, giving students the opportunity to demonstrate their creative skills.
We came up with an overarching, eye-catching identity that was bright and graphical and answered the brief of being ‘on brand but bold and brave’.
In just a few weeks, along with sourcing inspiring quotes and videos of innovators, we delivered: design and copy for the competition microsite; eight emails aligning with the customer journey; direct mail; a downloadable competition poster; a PowerPoint presentation for use at a major education event; and designed a home page banner for the main AQA website. The campaign generated a very positive response, effectively raising the profile of AQA’s computer science specification.
