The International Hydropower Association (IHA) is a not-for-profit organisation with active members in more than 80 countries. It was founded in 1995 under the auspices of UNESCO to promote and disseminate good practice and further knowledge about hydropower.
IHA wanted a new, content managed website to showcase the IHA 2011 World Congress on Advancing Sustainable Hydropower that was being held in Iguassu, Brazil, one of the most accomplished countries for hydropower development. The annual event brings together decision makers from governments, banks, NGOs and research institutions, and figureheads from business and industry.
IHA wanted to be able to update the website constantly with new speaker and session/workshop information. It also wanted to include information on hotels, visas, post-congress tours and networking opportunities and launch the website well in advance of the global congress in June 2011.
Oculus drew up a plan for the website including a sitemap and wireframes and produced design visuals, one of which IHA immediately favoured. The website then was quickly delivered, with pre-registration capabilities for potential delegates.
Soon after, Oculus delivered a complex full registration process, alongside a payment gateway, which was vital to enable delegates to book online. We also built a back-end administration function into the CMS to enable reporting and monitoring of delegates.
The solution allowed IHA to produce bespoke invoices, credit notes and letters – all IHA branded – for one-off situations with members/delegates, including at the Congress itself when a local version of the entire website was available on staff’s laptops.
IHA has been delighted with the design and functionality, receiving much praise from its members.
IHA have enjoyed working with Oculus on the website and online registration system for the IHA 2011 World Congress. We have been particularly impressed by their high level of customer service.
