Oculus has launched an initiative with the University of Reading to nurture young creative talent in the area. We invited students to enter a design competition, with prizes of two weeks’ work experience within the agency and £100 worth of Apple Store vouchers for the winner, and a £50 Apple Store voucher for each of the two runners-up.
This year not only sees the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, but also marks 20 years in business for Oculus. To celebrate our 20-year milestone, we have launched a ‘20 Years of WOW’ campaign, demonstrating how we have ‘WOW-ed’ clients during our two decades in business.
As part of this campaign, we are offering University of Reading BA Graphic Communication students in years 1 and 2 the chance to demonstrate how they would deliver ‘WOW Factor’ to a client by developing a brand identity for a fictitious product/service and designing a creative piece to promote it.
The ‘WOW Factor’ competition runs from late May to October and kicks off by promoting the competition to students via the Oculus Facebook page and encouraging them to ‘Like’ Oculus and register online.
In October, ten finalists will be shortlisted and their work will be displayed on Facebook where it can be ‘Liked’ and commented on. We will be hosting an awards ceremony at our London Street offices in early November to announce the winners, chosen by an independent judging panel and an online vote.
We are looking for feedback from as wide an audience as possible, so join in by going to the Oculus Facebook page then ‘Like’ Oculus to take part in a public vote when the ten finalists have been shortlisted.
