We needed a new identity for the national curriculum, to align with changes to the curriculum itself, and a high-profile relaunch.
As incumbent marketing and advertising agency and brand guardian for the National Assessment Agency, part of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), Oculus was chosen to design the innovative new brand for the new secondary national curriculum. The launch was a major event and created a great deal of public interest. As for all our work for the NAA, accessibility, diversity and inclusion considerations needed to be fully factored into the design.
QCA chose an entirely new look and feel. Using the existing subject-specific colours, we created a colourful new mark that reflected the innovation, strength and creativity of this new direction. This gave us the chance to use the brand across a range of materials, including an overview document, conference banners, delegate packs and presentation materials. Our design was very well received. This Crown copyright item worked across multiple formats, subjects and age groups, beautifully mirroring the fluid and responsive nature of the newly updated curriculum.
“The conference packs look fantastic and caused quite a splash. The partners at the DCSF all love the look and are keen to use it on their own materials. Thanks for all your hard work on this. A tremendous result on the tightest of tight timelines.”
